Abstract:

Background: Thrombophilia has been viewed as a multigenic disorder rather than a monogenetic clinical phenotype and Apo E has been shown to play an important role in lipid metabolism in pregnancy. As individuals carrying the E4 allele of the ApoE gene have the highest risk for thrombosis, we evaluated the frequency of the Apo E4 genotype among women suffering from recurrent pregnancy loss. Materials and Methods: 81 women with a history of two or more consecutive spontaneous abortions were examined for their APO-E genotypes based on restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of PCRamplified fragments including amino acid positions 112 and 158. The observed genotypes were compared with negative controls. Results: Women experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss had a significantly higher prevalence of Apo E3/4, E4/4 genotypes (19.75%) compared with control women (2.46%) (p=0.00001). Conclusion: Apo E4 polymorphism may contribute to the thrombophilic risk factors contributing to recurrent pregnancy loss.

IL-6, IL-10 and IL-17 Gene Polymorphisms in Iranian Women with Recurrent Miscarriage

Background: Pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines and polymorphisms of their genes have been described to be involved in the pathogenesis of recurrent miscarriage (RM). Objective: To investigate the association between RM and five polymorphisms of cytokine genes, interleukin 10 (IL-10), (-592 A/C, -819 C/T, -1082 A/G), IL-6 (-174 C/G) and IL-17 (-197 G/A) in Iranian women. Method: Po...

P-193: The Association of Apolipoprotien E Polymorphisms with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss

Background: The role of apolipoprotien E polymorphisms do not diagnostic correctly in recurrent pregnancy loss etiology but Apo E has been shown to play an important role in lipid metabolism in pregnancy. We evaluated these polymorphisms in Iranian women with unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss. Materials and Methods: 5 ml Blood were sampling from 81 women with a history of two or more consecu...

association of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (pai-1) and angiotensin converting enzyme polymorphisms with recurrent pregnancy loss in iranian women

background: recurrent pregnancy loss (rpl) defined by two or more failed pregnancies before 20 weeks of gestation. several factors play a role in rpl including thrombophilic conditions which can be influenced by gene polymorphisms. plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (pai-1) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ace) genes are closely related to fibrinolytic process, embryonic development and pregna...

The Effect of Vitamin E and Selenium on Sperm Chromatin Quality in Couples with Recurrent Miscarriage

Background and Aims: Due to the paucity of studies, association between the morphology and function of sperm and recurrent miscarriage (RM) is not yet completely known. Increased reactive oxygen species and decreased antioxidant levels in men have been shown to be associated with RM. Recently it has been accepted that antioxidant therapy can approve sperm parameters. The goal of this study was ...

The Anti-β2GP1 Autoantibody Level in Serum of Pregnant Women with History of Recurrent Miscarriage

Abstract Background and objectives: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) is one of the most common reproductive disorders, generally considered to be the loss of three or more pregnancies before viability. One of the causes of this disorder is the immunological factors such as autoantibodies associated with anti-phospholipid syndrome. Material and Methods: this case-control study was conducted on ...
